On this page: a make-a-word game.

Instructions:

• Click the 'New Word' button to generate the initial consonant(s) and middle vowel of a word.
• Think of one or more final sounds to make a complete word.
• Use the IPA typewriter below to fill in final sound(s)
• Write the normal English spelling of the word in the spelling box.
• Click on the 'Check Pronunciation' button to check the IPA characters for this word, and listen to it.
• If you can't think of a word, type the normal English spelling of the initial consonant and middle vowel in the box, then press the 'Search for possible words' button. If there aren't any words with these sounds, press 'New Word'.
• If you are playing in a competition, you can record scores for your teams.
