It's best to stand next to the screen to point to things (look left <).
However,  if you need to stand next to the OHP (don't stand behind it), then you can point at the screen in 2 ways:

Don't stand behind the OHP because it make you look as if you are frightened of the audience, and you are hiding behind the OHP.
